About

Who am I? The answer keeps changing as I change and life changes around me. But here are the constants…

I’m am God’s creation and possession, seeking to understand that more.

I believe that God is constantly drawing us near, wanting to share the goodness of his creation and himself with us. In his wisdom and care, he does that through many avenues. The best is through another human being, Jesus. That God would give a person – a walking, talking, thinking, feeling person – to communicate his goodness and truth with human beings is the best communication tool ever. He shared his wisdom and care in ancient days through godly people (Abraham, Joseph, Deborah, Naomi, David). But at the pinnacle of history, he didn’t share through godly men and women. He share through the God-Man. One who was so near to God, he was God. They were one, in full union. Jesus was God embodied. Today, He continues to share himself through the wisdom of godly people – those of the past through writings and those in the present through the responsive church – (Spiritually discerning, faithfully living, compassionately sharing).

I’ve taken two sets of vows in my life. One to my husband in marriage. The other to the church in ordination. Both are treasured. When push comes to shove and it feels like these promises are colliding, I can serve God’s church anywhere and many ways, but to be a wife, I must be near to my husband. So the first set of vows take precedence. I believe that God is gracious and big enough for that (e.g. I don’t think He’s threatened).

We’ve been stewarded with a son. Guiding, encouraging and teaching a child to recognize and know God’s presence and living according to his truth and grace is an on-going responsibility and delight. When he was two and said, “Hook (look) mama, Jesus healed my boom-boom.” I was grateful that he was, in his own little way, recognizing the healing power of God through Jesus. (And again, thanks God for communicating with us through a person – even a two year old can get that! (see above).)

I’ll always be a grandchild, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to those closest to me. For that, I am deeply grateful.
